Recent work on the Church Easter 2014

The chancel in the church was repaired and redecorated around Easter 2014.

The pictures below from Churchwarden Carole Sargent show work progressing on improving the chancel.

Week One

The chancel is empty, and the heaters removed, ready for the work to begin.

Week Two

Repairs to plaster and stonework have started. Test patches for stripping away the old paint reveals red paintwork underneath the cream surface.

Week Three

The workmen have been busy with the replacement of plaster, new stonework, as shown on the pillar beside the pulpit, and stripping away the paint.  The previous decorations have been revealed now that the top layer has been removed. There is still a lot to do before Easter, but I hope to put up more photos as the work progresses.
